The inspiration, or starting point for this project was need to provide covered entry for Grandma; Especially as she helps with the childcare, a frequent visitor. The Homeowner had fairly comprehensive view of what the finished “covered entry” would be and a plan on graph paper – not just shelter from the weather and maybe a rocker. The existing house had no “Man Cave” so a gathering place was incorporated into the covered entry. More than a 3 season porch, while not fully enclosed, the walls shelter and the fireplace warms, just as wide openings encourage flowing from the Porch to the Garden area with custom built Trellis bench seating. Tiki torches and fire pit extend the Season and hours of use for the Garden area. Food always seems to be the center of any social gathering, so a Pizza oven was built with lots of granite topped counters for prep and serving!
