Artistic Renovations

20 Rutheena Lane, Selah, WA 98942

Remodel class:

  • Outstanding Innovation
  • Outstanding Kitchen

Home Description:

We met the Richards at our 2018 Tour of Homes™ featuring the Scandinavian Farmhouse. They liked the style and asked us to create a similar version that was unique to their tastes.

In remodels and custom homes, we like to emphasize individuality instead of playing it safe.

In a break from the popular white on white scheme for their kitchen we decided to amp up the color palate with a rich and regal blue for the lower cabinets and topped with a gorgeous quartz countertop. A classic backdrop of white, black and gray allows the whimsical pop of color to shine.

The original layout obstructed the view from the kitchen to the living room. The home also contained a second living area that was dead space.

To better suit the needs of this young family, we divided the second living space into a laundry room and a craft room. The original kitchen cabinets were salvaged, painted, and installed in these new rooms.

A separating wall was removed, and the corner fireplace was relocated to the bay window on the opposite end of the living room and accentuated with a floating hearth. Two large picture windows were also cut into the East side of the house to increase their beautiful view and finish out the main living space.

Home Features:

  • Custom built cabinets & relocation of existing cabinets
  • Relocated gas fireplace to bay window
  • Converted 2nd living space to laundry room & craft room
  • Cut in two 6’x8’ window to improve stunning view
  • Framed in glass wall to enhance natural light
  • Hired from 2018 Tour of Homes™

Builder Bio:

Bryan started his life and career in Texas, and has deep roots to his southern heritage.  Trained as an insurance property adjuster, he started by inspecting, assessing damage and writing estimates to reconstruct a home as his start.  This was vastly different from his previous career in Professional Baseball for the Arizona Diamondback’s organization.

He came to know Washington through his wife Kate Loeb, native to Yakima.  They chose to move here and raise their 3 children, Emerson, Dallas and Decker.

Bryan previously worked for another construction company, and now works for the family business Artistic Renovations. Artistic specializes in insurance restoration, custom remodels and custom new construction.
